October Newsletter

Dear SGLTG Members,

As our first triathlon season as a team comes to a close, it is a great time to reflect on some of the season highlights. In the three months, we had athletes competing in IRONMAN 70.3 Lake Stevens, Iron Girl, Lake Meridian Triathlon, Lake Stevens Olympic and Sprint Triathlon, Black Diamond Triathlon, Escape from the Rock, Ironman Maryland, the Kirkland Triathlon, SuperFrog XXXVI and RocketMan Florida Triathlon.

Congratulations to our first-time triathletes, seasoned Ironman athletes, first-time Ironmen (and Ironwomen!), Half Ironpeople and sprint and Olympic distance finishers. This season would not have been the success that it was without every one of you who competed and volunteered at these events.

For those who will be competing at Ironman Arizona next weekend, GOOD LUCK!! You’ve got a whole lot of people who are excited to follow you online and cheer you on! To all the SGLTG members flying down to Arizona to volunteer and represent our group, please cheer extra hard for those of us who can’t be there in person! Good luck to all who still have a race coming up this year! Black DIamond Lake Stevens Olympic Tri PreSwim

Race Highlight: IRONMAN 70.3 Lake Stevens was a capstone event for many on our team . With 34 finishers and 26 volunteers, we were awarded second place for Tri Clubs! This was a first 70.3 distance race for many of us. We had a fantastic turnout and a fabulous day.  Congrats to all of our finishers, and a big thank you to all of our volunteers!

Club Business
• Big changes have been happening within our group! SGLTG is now a 501 c3 non-profit business and at last month’s leadership meeting, the club voted in a set of bylaws and a code-of-conduct. To learn more about these changes or to stay up-to-date on other club-related happenings, please come to our next leadership meeting, the date for which will be announced soon.
• We have a fan page on Facebook! Please visit us and ‘like’ us at facebook.com/SGLTG. This is the public face of SGLTG where we highlight our accomplishments and thank our sponsors. If there is content you would like to see on this page, please send Laura a message through the message link on the SGLTG fan page.

Our original Facebook group page will remain for social interaction and activities, triathlon tips and arranging impromptu Meetups.
