Website and 2015 membership and dues information

We have a new website! Please visit www.SGLTG.org and check us out. On our site, you can find an events calendar that aggregates all of the meetup activities of SGLTG and sister-group SGLRG. You will also find links to bylaws and our code of conduct, newsletter archives, race reports and an online store to purchase SGLTG gear. You can also register as a member of SGLTG and pay dues to become a dues paying member of SGLTG.

“I thought this was supposed to be a free club!” It is, and always will be, free to participate in most of the events posted by this group (any exceptions, such as swim clinics which require a pool-use fee, will be noted in meetup details). If you would like to become a dues-paying member, you get a few extra perks: 1)You will get access to exclusive race discounts and sponsor discounts offered to the group. 2) You will be eligible to purchase team kits and other gear. 3) You can help shape the future of SGLTG by running for leadership positions during elections and voting in those elections.

“Where do my dues go?” Great question! Things like meetup.com and our website have costs associated with them. There are also fees associated with belonging to USAT, designing kits and getting those nifty fit kits from the company so we can try on all that sweet gear before purchase. Ultimately, we’d also like to be able to subsidize the cost of things like swim-clinics, for which we have to rent a space. No one is paid or will profit to organize this group; all dues will support SGLTG activities.  Please feel free to talk with anyone on the leadership board if you have any questions.

It is your choice. Whether or not you pay to join, you are always welcome at our workouts. If you love this group as much as we do, we hope you’ll decide to invest 10 of your hard-earned bucks to support us.

Elections

In 2015, we will be holding elections to determine the new SGLTG leadership board. Here are a few things you need to know: In order to nominate someone for a Leadership position, run for a Leadership position, or vote, you must be a current, dues-paying member of the club. Please go to our shiny new website to find out more information, register as a member, submit your 2015 dues and nominate someone for Leadership.  Please note, once you register and pay dues, a spacial ‘Members Only’ area will become visible and will contain voting information and links to submit nominations.

Nominations must be made (online) at by Jan 12. We will have a leadership meeting on Monday, January 12 at Teddy’s (at 8pm) to formalize nominations.

Voting will take place on Feb 9, 2015. You will be able to vote in person or by proxy; information on proxy voting procedures will be made available shortly.

P-A-R-T-Y!
Each one of us accomplished something amazing in 2014. Whether that means pushing your comfort zone by joining a triclub and heading out on your first group bike ride, completing your first or tenth sprint triathlon, becoming a half or full Ironman, you’ve done something worth celebrating. Please join us on January 11 from 1-5pm at Naked City Brewery to reflect on an incredible year. Please RSVP on Meetup as space will be limited!

As always, Thank you to our wonderful sponsors!
